Bringing belly to earth…in yoga, has taught me much about learning to see what is right in front of my nose, with the awareness as well that I am touching the entire universe in that moment.
Bring belly to the earth, intention, noticing…then, most commonly in my yoga practice, pausing, beginning to inhale, engaging legs, lifting chest upwards from the back of the heart, backbending into ‘Bhujangasana’ or Cobra for a few breaths, or softly into Sphinx for a few minutes in the way of Yin. Encouraging the flow of prana through ‘anahata’, heart chakra, or releasing of chi through the meridian of kidney. As ‘anahata’ is activated in its power, opening us to a wider sense of love, and deep awareness of our interconnectedness with life, with all the many beings that live on this planet. Be they King Cobra beside the Ganges, Western Terrestrial Garter Snake beside Bowker Creek, or Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake beside the French river entering Georgian Bay. Expanding one’s sense of self as snake does through the shedding of a skin covering body and eyes, letting go of what no longer serves. And possibly, maybe even banishing the fears of life for a time, as chi flows more freely through the kidney meridians of the body.
Bring belly to the earth…the world in a grain of sand.
